Fall fashion finds to mix, match, and layer all season long.

We’ve entered into my personal favorite season! There’s something about feeling that first crisp, cool breeze of the season and smelling the first rain. With the changing of the season also comes that awkward in-between weather. You wake up early to get your kids off to school at a chilly 50 degrees and BAM, by noon it’s 75! That’s where this list comes in handy. Where I live, I know all too well that this is the time of year where layering is essential to stay comfortable, so I’ve put together a list of some of my favorites, from layering pieces to comfy basics. Everything to get you prepared, and stay on trend this fall.

1. two-piece activewear lounge set in the color: coffee.

One thing I won’t negotiate no matter what the season, is comfort! School’s back in session, and if I had to guess, you’re probably getting up early and waiting in a drop-off line with coffee in hand. That requires a comfortable, yet still put together look. This two-piece set is the perfect mix of both. The long-sleeve top pairs well with wide-legged pants featuring a high-waisted elastic band and adjustable drawstring for an easy, comfortable fit. The relaxed fit makes this an easy grab and go set. They are perfect for travel or simply lounging on the couch enjoying your favorite fall football game. And that rich coffee color absolutely makes this a cozy staple for fall!

2. Knit cropped cardigan sweater in the color: oatmeal.

With layering, it’s essential to have pieces that are warm yet easy to remove when those temps start to climb. This cardigan delivers on that idea. It’s one of those pieces that can take a look from basic to elevated. This pick is a great one because it’s so versatile. Wear it with a pair of your favorite jeans, some leggings, or a skirt with some fall tights and boots. This cardigan has functional buttons down the center, making it easy to wear alone, or layer over a basic cami. I also love the oatmeal color choice because it makes it easy to pair with so many other pieces in your collection.

3. barrel leg overalls.

Barrel leg jeans have become a big trend this year, and I love that this piece combines that with a fall staple, overalls. I envision wearing these to the pumpkin patch or even for a family photo shoot. They also fit the layering vibe we have going on in this list. Throw it over a simple white tank top, tube top, long-sleeve top, or elevate it by pairing with an oversized knit sweater. I think they would look so adorable with a pair of clogs. They have functional pockets (which we love!) and adjustable straps to give you the perfect fit.

4. 3 pack of ribbed scoop neck long sleeve tops.

Having the basics in your collection is what helps your layering pieces stand out. Not only are they helpful with layering but they work beautifully on their own, helping you get even more wear for your money. It’s girl math! The scoop neckline is perfect for showing off your statement or layered necklaces. You can tuck them into jeans and pair them with a stylish belt to elevate the look without layering, or layer one under a cozy vest.

5. Leopard print mini skirt.

In this list, you’ll notice I’ve avoided plaid. Nothing against it, I just personally feel like it’s a print that can be overdone in the fall. I want to help you be fearless and reach for the unexpected prints that still tie in those beautiful fall colors. This skirt would pair well with an oversized sweater, some fleece tights to keep you warm, and a pair of knee high boots. Let the print speak for itself.

6. Striped flowy palazzo pants.

I have recently added a pair of similarly styled pants to my fall collection, and let me tell you… I have received SO many compliments on them! So I knew these had to be on the list. Because friends don’t gatekeep! I love the flowy, wide-leg design because they cover your legs without being too hot. Which is a prime example of the kind of piece you should incorporate into your fall wardrobe. Once again, these have functional pockets and adjustable drawstring. Another reason these are a gem is you can take them beyond the fall season and wear them into spring and summer!

7. oversized warm & cozy knit sweater in the color: dark apricot.

Here’s where we incorporate the mixing and matching in the title of this blog. I’ve specifically chosen this sweater with the barrel overalls and leopard print skirt in mind. These pieces would pair beautifully with one another. I love the higher neckline and cuffed sleeves with a ribbed hemline. The earthy dark apricot color is giving rich fall. The name of the color alone is giving moody fall which brings this collection together seamlessly.

8. 3 pack square neck lined spaghetti strap tops.

I know what you’re probably thinking. Another set of basics? Yes girl, exactly that. These spaghetti strap tops serve their purpose in more ways than one. Have a top that’s a little sheer and want more coverage, need something to go under that statement jacket or cardigan without stealing the show, or maybe you have a cute pair of fall pajama pants that didn’t come with a matching shirt. This is where these tops shine. Plus, you get 3 in a pack? Take my money!

9. oversized button-down jean jacket.

Oversized jean jackets are one of those classic pieces that everyone should have. They are perfect for fall because they are a lightweight layer. I personally own 3 of them in different colors and styles because I love how versatile they are. They add a completely different fall vibe, the laid back, sporty vibe. I love to wear mine over a hoodie paired with some cozy sweat pants or leggings, to my daughter’s fall softball games, but it would look just as cute at a football game or any sporting event. Add a baseball hat and throw your hair up in a mess claw clip. Coming up in this list I have a sweat set and a pair of sunglasses that I think would work SO well with this jacket!

10. Faux suede cropped jacket in the color: coffee brown.

Fall fashion meets streetwear with this one. Take this jacket on a night out with your girls, date night, or even to slay on your coffee run. Remember that leopard-print mini skirt? This jacket would be the perfect match with that skirt. Go ahead and add to cart because you’re not a regular girl, you’re a cool girl!

11. fall chelsie ankle boots in the color: beige.

Every good fall outfit needs a stylish boot. These boots are the perfect choice to make your look more elevated and classy. The beige color keeps them neutral enough to pair with practically everything, while the sock-like elastic side panels add that warm, cozy touch. I would pair these with some cute skinny jeans or some leggings, an oversized sweater, and a cross body bag for one of those outfits that look like you tried way harder than you actually did.

12. knee high boots with braided heel strap in the color: black.

Make a statement in these knee-high boots. These motorcycle-style riding boots are the definition of luxury fall style without the luxury price tag. When I saw these boots, I immediately pictured paired with a satin, lace-trimmed mini skirt. One of my favorite things is mixing textures in fashion and the faux leather material of these boots with a satin or silky skirt would do just that.

13. 3 pairs of slouchy crew socks in the colors: brown/khaki/cream.

When putting together fall clothing inspiration boards on Pinterest, I always see slouchy socks in the pictures. This may be an item people overlook when thinking about their OOTD (outfit of the day), but these are an underrated staple that pulls your outfit together and adds that extra level of cozy. And let’s be honest, this one little detail can make the outfit. Slouchy socks look great with just about any shoe you pair them with, except maybe flip flops, but this post is about fall so why would you pair them with flip flops anyways? Okay stick with me here: ankle boots, slipper shoes, knee-high boots. That’s the vibe we’re going for.

14. knitted pattern tights in the color: light coffee.

We’ve been talking all about layering pieces for fall, and one item I’ve continually mentioned is tights. Well, here they are! These tights in particular scream fall. The knit pattern adds another texture to mix and play around with, giving any look a little extra dimension. They’re also a lighter material making them perfect for those in-between days when it’s not quite summer but not full-blown fall either. Pair them with just about any dress or skirt and you’re set. These specifically make me think of an outfit that you’d wear to Thanksgiving dinner. Cute outfit AND room for mashed potatoes? Say less.

15. two-piece cozy sweat set in the color: green.

TaaDaaaa! Here’s that sweat set I mentioned earlier. The one I said would look so bomb with that oversized jean jacket. Yeah, this is the one! And the color? You’re kidding me, right? It’s the most beautiful, earthy, light-toned green that adds a beautiful softness to the whole look. Keep these pieces together or rock them apart. Either way they’ll add a warm aesthetic to your wardrobe.

16. hexagonal polarized sunglasses.

You like how I kinda segued into the sunglasses because I also promised those too? Okay I know people are gonna be like, “How do sunglasses = fall finds?” And…fair. I honestly just thought these looked so chic, and it brought me back to that sporty fall outfit. And how, without fail, every fall game I’ve sat through, the sun is directly in my eyes! Rude! Anyways, I guess that’s why they’re here. Besides that, they are SO cute. On to the next.

17. Fur-lined slippers in the color: chestnut.

Okay my little nuggets, we’re almost to the end of this list. Let’s put the boots to the side for a second because these are for when we are just trying to make it through the day and the best we’ve got is a hoodie, a pair of slipper shoes with some slouchy socks and leggings. And that’s enough! I like that these have a thick sole, making them a great option for not only inside the house, but outside as well.

18. zip-up puffer vest in the color: black.

Being from the PNW, I can’t even begin to express what an absolute staple a puffer vest is for the fall wardrobe. Being in a climate that can never make up its mind, it’s nice to throw on a puffer vest on to warm up your core while keeping your arms exposed for that warm/cool balance. They can also be very cute when styled right. I like to wear mine with a basic long-sleeve shirt, leggings, a cute beanie, slouchy socks, and slipper shoes. Do any of those items sound familiar? These pieces I’ve listed in this post are items I genuinely love and can’t live without.

19. 6 pack high-waisted leggings with pockets in the color: black.

There’s an unspoken rule when it comes to leggings. It doesn’t matter if you wear black leggings 7 days a week, as long as it’s 7 different pairs of black leggings. With this bundle, you can abide by the unspoken rule. I don’t even know how many pairs of black leggings I own at this point, and I love it! I specifically buy the ones with pockets because mom life demands it. These are so versatile and can be paired with just about every item I’ve listed in this post.

20. oversized color-block knit top in the color: pure apricot.

We made it to the end, and what better way to end this list of finds than with one more oversized sweater. This one is different than the last because of it’s adorable color-blocking detail. You just can’t go wrong with an oversized sweater in the fall. It’s like coffee with creamer, peanut butter & jelly. Some things were just made to go together.
